8-ply sock yarn — also known as "forte" — is the thickest variety of sock yarns. You cast on significantly fewer stitches than with 4-ply yarn, knit with 
4.0 mm needles, and have a finished pair of socks in half the time. Ideal for anyone just starting sock knitting or simply wanting quick results.

Our 8-ply sock yarns — especially Fortissima 6-ply by Schoeller & Stahl — are made from a robust virgin wool-polyamide blend. The polyamide content ensures that the socks don't wear through at the heel and toe, even with regular wear.

A 150-g ball is enough for a complete pair of adult socks — no need to buy more. The color selection ranges from classic shades to vibrant gradients.
