How to find the perfect yarn for knitting and crochet patterns

Choosing the right pattern is only half the magic. For a project to be truly beautiful – to drape evenly, keep you warm, show texture, and bring lasting joy – you need the right yarn .

Depending on the pattern, fibers, running length, twisting and yarn construction have different effects:
Sometimes the stitches should be clearly visible, sometimes soft and flowing, sometimes they should stand out in a three-dimensional way.

Here you will find an overview of the most important knitting and crochet patterns – and which yarn from our shop is the best match in terms of appearance and technical properties .

KNITTING PATTERN

1. Smooth right / smooth left (Stockinette)

Effect: calm, clean, classic
Ideal for: sweaters, basic tops, cardigans, scarves, simple shawls.

  • Row one: Knit all stitches.
  • Return row: Knit all stitches purlwise.
  • Repeat.

Note: The edges tend to curl. For neat edges, knit a few rows of garter stitch or ribbing along the edge.

    – clear stitch definition
    – smooth surface

    • Braid row (every 4th-6th row, depending on the desired look):
    • Place 3 stitches onto a cable needle in front of the work,
    • Knit the next 3 stitches.
    • Then knit the 3 stitches from the cable needle to the right.
    • Continue knitting in stockinette stitch until the next cable crossing.

Note: The less often you cross the braid, the looser it will be; more often = more compact.
